Instrument d’Orientation (2017 — 2m20 Metal and glass sculpture, Saint Paul de Vence, Private Arts Patronage)

Like “Cardinal”, this sculpture organises itself around a centre, but the sphere is replaced by a luminous glass rod around which metal lines seem to radiate and seek a direction. The object reads as an antenna, a compass, an impossible scientific instrument — something built to capture, measure or locate what normally escapes perception. Coordinates ordinarily turn a real place into abstraction; a few figures fix an invisible point on the immensity of the earth. The sculpture performs the inverse operation, taking the abstraction of location and giving it a physical presence — a centre, axes, trajectories, a light — so that what it finally materialises is less any specific place than the *need to situate ourselves* within a reality far larger than we are.

L'Itinéraire de pensée  (Filmed between 2015-2019)

The accompanying video, “L'Itinéraire de pensée”, extends this through the macro camera, which reveals phenomena that already existed but that our habitual scale kept from us. The camera becomes a prosthesis of perception: it does not invent these realities, it teaches the gaze to move to where they can be met — a quiet suggestion that what is invisible may not be absent, only unreachable from where we happen to be looking.
